I got a problem and I don't know what to do about it, even if I did I don't know if I will quit but I doubt it, I'm taken by the thought of it.

My travelling wallet was abandoned til last week.
Cuz finally I get to fly to the Borneo! Okay can tick that off my bucket list. I know, I am proud to be Malaysian, but so not proud of the fact that I've never been to certain places in Malaysia like Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan & Terengganu. Boo Hoo.

Anyway let's save the KK journey for next time shall we? Back to my story...

While waiting for boarding time, I was going through that travel wallet. I forgot that I've been keeping some of my 'memories' there; like flight tickets, movie tickets, theater tickets, rugby tickets, concert tickets, my EFTPOS, my stamp cards for bubble teas, smoothies and coffees (or in my case is chocolate - I'm more of a chocolate person), some 'butterflies' from the Coldplay concert... pretty much it sums up the things I did when I was in NZ.

So I was excited and all the memories kept on rushing back in. Feels like I traveled thru time for a bit.

And my mom, being the mother started to point out how I can strive better in Uni if I don't play around too much. I agree with her. I mean c'mon, I know I can do better, definitely. If I pay attention more and if I put more passion into it. To me I've tried working hard for it, but I admit that I lack of passion when it comes to things I study back in Uni.

I paused for awhile. Then I realised something else. And I told her one thing
"Well Ibu, for me it was time well spent."
I don't know. I know that I could've done better at Uni cuz I was this one annoying ambitious freak.

But I never regret how I spend my time over there. All these memories I have.

They're my most prized possessions when I'm living in NZ.

And to this date, I feel so blessed to graduate within my expected time to graduate. heh.
Alhamdulillah.

Next week is graduation week again. So I'm feeling more nostalgic than ever. Have I talked about stuff we do on the graduation week back in 2008? I can't recall. If I haven't maybe I will :)

When you're happy like a fool, let it take you over. When everything is out, you gotta take it in.

Its snowing in Wellington!

I remembered asking people if it snows over there, and they said no, in fact, they gave me one good explanation why. So I never question and accept the reasoning as it is. Well, we got hails quite frequent so that kinda substitute the no-snow in Welly. Frosting on the floor is normal over there too.

Plus its already August. We should be entering Spring already, where everything is perfect. The just-nice, no-need-to-wear-thick-layer-of-clothes weather. We can wear sunnies too cuz the sun is shining oh-so brightly. Then flowers everywhere.

Then today comes. My eyes were like O_O. Never thought it would be possible!

Heard its because of the Polar Blast that hits NZ once in every 50 years. Wow. And I missed that once in 50 years thing. Guess my luck has run out for this month!

Can't help myself but to start browsing over http://www.stuff.co.nz/ for videos and more coverage on this matter, and after so long only now I get myself back into that site. Its been a while since I do that!

Ah made me miss Wellington even more. Suddenly I am imagining myself in my room back in Maurice Terrace, with the smell of the old house, and snowing outside. Then I will walk down to Cuba, and have the best ever Scopa's hot chocolate and enjoy the view! Then definitely Aqilah, Ain and I would go out and have some cool pics together. Knowing us. Plus, we're penguins remember?

Them Crooked Penguins - I know its lame. But I don't care :P

Although this penguin doesn't really like the snow. Well, I guess that's the reason why the penguin left the Antartica don't you think?

So yeah. Subhanallah. With Him anything is possible right?

Somewhat reminded me of how the world is getting really old, and we don't have much time left. A good reminder too.

So Welly peeps, really, have fun for us! And don't forget to keep yourself warm, and get your necessary supplies in case of emergency. With that? We never know what comes next. Could be dangerous too ;)

You know, I can't recall myself sleeping at night, dreaming about Wellington. Maybe its people, yes. But not the place. I don't know, maybe I forgot that I had dreams about it. Sometimes I ask myself if I completely forgotten about it. Like you know, its not that important anymore, so everything becomes blurry. Once I don't even recall Ilottt cafe's Wedges & Sour Cream - my favorite snack while I'm in uni - until Nonie mentioned it awhile ago.

Then I was like. "Eh, yes. Sedap nya that thing." Then. "Wait, Ilott?".

Okay Ilott was definitely far away from my mind. I have forgotten all about it, when actually, it was one of the most frequent places that I always go in between classes.

Lately it's been raining. And because of that I just can't help myself but to let my mind wander, back to those days where all we care about is how to stay dry. Or probably sometimes (although rarely), enjoying the walks when the roads are really wet, layering ourselves with clothes til we feel so fat, then put on a jacket, and boots to go to class. Then I remembered it was freezing cold, then what I'll do is to look for hot coffee/tea to warm me up. Then we can get excited when we can see our own breaths while talking.

The I remember the Wet Wellington. Sublime. Even in gloomy days I think Wellington is still beautiful.

Made me want to browse for photos. Just to see the place. Then I realized, I don't have a lot of them. I admit, I am not the type who stop and snap back then, as I am too lazy to carry a digicam, and I don't have the iPhone convenience like I have now.

And I took more event photos, with people in it. The place? There's some, but not many.

How sad. Then it strikes me; maybe back then, all I care is the experience. All I cherished, is the memories and the people. But the place? I don't know.

Maybe I took Wellington for granted.

Honestly? There's a slight regret. For now, I still remember the roads. I can still see myself walking around there. I can still feel it. The walks, the air, the hills, the bus rides, the gloomy weather, the festivals and celebrations, the sushi lunches, Scopa's famous hot chocolate, Simply Paris, Real Groovy, Glassons, Crepes, Reading Cinemas, the harbour, the alone time with the city, the lights, the buildings, the art. I can get the same feeling when I remember the times where I was at the Kelburn library and I can see the most of Wellington - the city, the harbor, the sea. Or even, my old room back in Weir House.

Yes, memories worth something more. But pictures? Is what keeping the memories alive.

I guess maybe, I must go back there. And this time? I won't forget the photos.

So until then I wish you well, For the time being farewell, My dear Brielle.

Sky Sailing's Brielle is a song Qilah put up as a goodbye song to Wellington.

And somehow, when I listened to it the first time, I get it. Suddenly all those bittersweet memories that I have just starting to soak in. Although it is a very quiet and to some, a dead city, I am very grateful that I actually lived there. In fact, I cannot recall myself hating that place, not even once. I remember loving it since day 1.

It is where one phase of life was built. 4 years seems so short, and to me it was never enough. I wish I can just fly myself there anytime that I want.

I realized that I didn't give a proper goodbye though. The day I left, I didn't even shed a tear. I didn't recall feeling sad, or emotional.

Maybe its because I wasn't ready at that point of time.

...

Well, I am still not ready now.

I know I told myself not to talk about it (so much), cuz it feels as if I am living in the past. But I just can't. Its a part of me. So I don't think I can stop talking about it.

And Aqilah, I think you've chosen the perfect song. For Wellington :)

Free your mind, and the rest will follow. Be colourblind, don't be so shallow.

Currently listening to the Glee Cast version of Stop in the Name of Love/Free Your Mind

My fave out of the songs in the episodes. Love everything about this mash-up. Teenage Dream is also another great one. To be honest, I never thought Teenage Dream is a song that I will put on repeat. Until Glee made a cover of it. I don't know, to see a bunch of smart looking school boys performing it? I can't stop listening to it eversince. LOL. I know, I sounded like a pedophile or something. Its their voices that I like the most about the song, then the performance. Men singing a woman's song really did change my perspective towards a song. It meant something more.

Okay, its not about the song that I wanted to talk about. Its just that I went through some tagged photos on facebook (I am still wondering why I don't take many photos this year) so I stumbled upon years in Vic's photos. I am yet to open an album on my memories in NZ. Will do that, but I don't know when :P I found this:

from our session in the photo booth

This photo actually makes me wonder; how many of us can actually fit in that photo booth? Okay in that photo there's 10 of us. Although we didn't really get everyone's full faces, but still I think this is good enough. Enough to make me go "wow... TEN OF US?" and the boys aren't petite types okay. Qilah, Ain and Ellin are not short/petite like me. They're all tall.

I miss the times we go on photo booth. Definitely we'll go crazy; cuz it'll take time for all of us to get ready and when the 3 seconds countdown starts we got panicked. And then after the shots, we have to pick the 4 best photos, and you can imagine how all 10 of us can get to a decision in such a short time when there's like 8-10 photos to choose. Even if there's 3 of us we'll be like "nak yang ni" "ehh tanaklaa muka i x cool a dalam ni" "ish dah tu yang mana?" "ehhh cepat masa nak habis dahhh!"

So we end up just click click click. And voila! 4 photos.

Then comes another gelabah part - to decorate the photos.

Usually there'll be one photo we'll keep without any editing - we like it raw like that. But the rest? Another chaotic situation. Haha.

But seriously, those were the fun parts of taking sticker photos; we can't expect whats coming out, and given;the short period of time we have to make nice photos so everyone will be happy. We don't really use the photo stickers - nowadays we just put them up on fb. I used to put up these sticker photos on my laptop, but then I had to give away my laptop so? My cuzzen actually gets to keep my photos. LOL.

That's the reason why I like Lomography, or instant photos, like Polaroid. The fun comes when we don't know whats coming out from the shots. We just, have faith, and snap. Don't get wrong, I like digital cams as well. But I like old school. My dream is to also own a SLR, and have a dark room for myself. haha. Dreams.
Now I am thinking of buying another lomo cam - maybe a Diana. Most likely will buy the pre-loved one, well I know the owner keeps his stuff well so yeah, let's hope he's still keeping this for me LOL. Still haven't got the chance - always tight on budget *sigh*. This problem goes a long way so maybe one day I'll blog about it.

I miss them. The ones on the photo. I haven't seen those "Maybank dudes" for months, and the same for Mika, Ellin, Qilah & Ain. Well, I miss Welly peeps:

Taken from fb tagged photos - TQ Photogs ;)

I have more to post, but I think its better if I open an album quick. LOL.

M*NITE 2009 (cont.)

This is one of our first shots for the night.

I'm not in the mood to elaborate... so I am going to spam this post with photos. haha. But this event was great, I really enjoyed myself, despite the fact that my usual crowd weren't there. Everyone looked glamorous (woot2!) and, I like the ambiance - with the candles and nice lightings. The food were pretty good, not so much on the desserts though. So everything's good =D

This is what I wore for the night - Baju raya tahun ni :)

Thank You Organizers :D Congratulations!
and..

Thank You EVERYONE who came and rocked the event!

THE WOWSOME WOW!

A lot of information are taken from http://www.worldofwearableart.com/
Caution: this post is gonna be long. So bear with me peeps. haha.

Every year starting the 2nd year of my stay in Wellington, W.o.W has always been on my 'must-see list' of the year. Unfortunately for me, luck wasn't on my side. But not THIS YEAR! Cuz I found the suitable time, and I have someone who also wanna go to this event, so last week's Friday, that was the 2nd of October, Ain and I went to the World of WearableArt show!!

How was it? I have mentioned this everywhere (fb status & twitter, & my title up there) but I am going to say this again. It was WOWSOME!! the whole thing was just magical... I was in awe all the time. I am like a little girl watching a fairytale comes to live, with "wooowww" and "OMG!...cantik gilee" or ... a lot of other mumbling and whispering to Ain on how much I love those beautiful wearable arts. I hope she wasn't distracted. hehe. If I was quiet at that time, it's because my jaw just dropped. Like how Bruce in Bruce Almighty said : it was B-E-A-utiful!

It's like a combination of a fashion show and Disney's Fantasia. Only live, right in front of your eyes.

There were 7 sections altogether, and my favorite will be:

The Illumination Illusion Section
Float, Fly, Flow
Using the magic and illusion of UV light, create a garment to perform in and WOW the audience that appears to float, fly or flow through space and levitate above the stage. Consider the concept of the body as the focus.

interesting kan? Yes, I am sure it WOWs everyone. And this is my personal favorite garment for this section, and for the whole event:

Wanderer by Sue Caderman of Motueka
Inspired by an American Indian legend about butterflies.
Made of: Nylon, Cotton, Paint, Netting, Wire, Paper

The butterflies around the girl just fly around her. It's so beautiful. But she's just the runner-up of that section. The winner is this:

Into Thin Air by Marie Gant Roxburgh of Christchurch
Like roman relics that disappear over time, so too do our memories, fading into thin air.
Made of: Foamboard, dowel, photocopied photos, MDF

She deserved it. This piece is so detailed - it is actually layers of papers (i think its to create different shades of the face), and yes, it moves around, then it disappeared, then it appears again, then poof! gone. Mesmerizing! If you see it yourself you'll agree with me..

So the other 6 sections are: Children's Section (At the Bottom of the Garden), South Pacific Section (Patterns of the Pacific), Open Section, Creative Excellent Section (Theme: Fold - transformation of the flat surface through folding to emerge as a sculptural WearableArt garment), Man Unleased Section (Magnificent Men), and Avant Garde Section (where art and fashion collide!)

The overall winner for this year's W.o.W:

Lady of the Wood by David Walker of the US
The ball gowns of the 18th & 19th centuries.
Made of: Mahogany, lacewood, maple, cedar

No wonder this is 2009 Winner Supreme Montana WOW Award and winner for the section, the Avant Garde. It is made of wood basically. hehe.

My other personal picks:

The Dandelion Clock by Tracey Koole of Auckland
In folklore, the hour is told by the number of puffs it takes to blow all the seeds of a dandelion globe
Made of: Plastic, fibreglass, foam and fabric
Winner of the Children Section

Well this is my favorite too for this section. Who doesn't like dandelions? From time to time the two small ones will fly away from the main dandelion. So cute!

Queen Adelaide by Emma Whiteside of Wellington
Remnants of a forgotten NZ industry are reflected in the splendour of a unique queen, honoured in a shimmering burst of light.
Made of: Automotive radiator copper, fabric, aluminium
Winner of Shell Sustainability Award

And guess what? She's a Vic Student! bangga tak?

There are more, but they were not featured in the website as they are not winners. So I don't have their photos.
Anyway, who thinks this one looks scary?

Lagarus Ovatus En Masse by Catherine Anderton of Wellington
When this mystical creature leaves his warren, he doesn't crawl out of the ground, he is the ground.
Made of: Grass, faux fur, fibreglass, fimo
Winner of First Time Entrant Award and Runner up for the Open Section

Haha. I think he looks scary. Reminds me of that Donnie Darko creature, or like a combination of an armadillo and a rabbit. kan? Ah well, he wins 2 awards that night. Not bad!

More photos that night:

in case you're wondering, I am trying to imitate the pose at the back.
and haha since we're going to this kind of event, I've decided to wear something so-called "artsy" than how I usually wear. So I choose color-clashing stuff. Another reason is that I really wanna wear that shocking pink tights. haha.

So that's the end of my WoW story. I wish I can go again next year, and definitely going to pick the more expensive seat. Seriously its worth the money you spent. Those who wants to experience something really cool, magnificent, beautiful, something surprising, please go.

p/s: Oh thank you Ain, big time! thank you for joining me! it's more fun to go with you!! we should hang out more! Summer k?
